Pam Rohloff

Client Relationship Manager

What do you love most about being part of Hightower Austin?
I love the work that we do, the clients we work for, and the team I have the honor of working with. Our work is complex and constantly changing so it rarely gets boring. We have phenomenal clients, and I know that what we are doing makes a true difference in their quality of life, which is priceless. Finally, I work with a group of the most thoughtful, honest and hardworking individuals that I can imagine putting together in one team.

What qualities of yours makes you well suited for your role at Hightower Austin?
My primary passion is communicating with people. It is very important to me that I communicate clearly and that I listen effectively to make sure that information and ideas are delivered and perceived accurately. I believe this helps me with problem solving for our clients, whether it be accomplishing routine “administrivia”, or resolving complex questions.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?
My main activity outside of work is serving as chauffeur to my two kids and my Mom to get them to their activities, appointments, performances, competitions, classes & social events. My guilty pleasure is playing in mud: I returned to my love of throwing a few years ago, and as soon as I can get myself back to Laguna Gloria for more studio time I will!

If you had to choose another career what would you do and why?
If I won the lottery and money was no object, I’d throw pots, plates, cups and bowls and then cook food to serve in them. I love ceramics and I also enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen and wish I had more time to pursue those endeavors. Dreams of becoming independently wealthy aside; I think I would have pursued a career in medicine such as nursing.

What’s one experience you wish you could do all over again?
I am conflicted about this question. I absolutely adored college, and so pursuing graduate work was the obvious next step. However, my experience in graduate school was utterly abysmal. It was brutal to my psyche and spirit, and part of me wishes that I could go back and take a whole different path altogether. On the other hand, having endured it and making it through to the end taught me that I have the tenacity to get through exceptionally difficult situations.

If you could live anywhere besides Austin, where would you live and why?
I was born in Honolulu and raised in Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu and I miss it almost every day. I also lived in NYC for a couple of years and am very fond of that amazing city. If “could” is the operating word in that sentence, (and again if I don’t have to worry about money since both are astronomically expensive) I’d split my time between the two places.

Education and accreditations:

• B.A. in Psychology, Scripps College
• M.S. in Educational Psychology, Cornell University
